I doubt Claritin is addictive, but anything can become habit forming, and habits are very hard to break, and some non-addictive drugs are very hard to quit, such as antidepressants. So this is just clarification, because this board often has issues about addiction but it is really a very specific thing.
9/6/2004 · Hi Ashley, I won’t say Claritin D is addictive though… But the nasal spray congestant could be addictive to some. And it’s not advisable to use the nasal kind for too long in a period. Continue to take the Claritin D since it’s working for you and not causing any side effects.

5/23/2011 · Regular Claritin doesn’t do a darned thing for me, either, and actually makes me sleepy. I’m not a fan of the pseudoephedrine either, and my doctor has backed me up on this – he says to treat it as a last-resort kind of drug. It’s not addictive as far as I know, but it does raise heart rate and blood pressure, and causes insomnia for some.
I succeeded at realizing that my allergies are real and I do really need a treatment, but I failed at trying to get off of the one Im currently addicted to. Maybe someone will come up with a cure for allergies so I wont need to take anything anymore, but until then, its just me and my Claritin – D .
