7/24/2008 · i think i know exactly what you are on about. i drive a 323i 99. its a 2.5L I6 as you guys know and i think ive got the same problem. it sounds like a funny exhaust rattle at around 2000rpm. im thinking that its got something to do with the exhaust as it comes from that area doubt its vanos. maybe its normal. my car just had its 120000km service too. best to take it to bmw and ask ill keep you guys.

2/5/2012 · Re: Exhaust rattle Both If you tap the muffler first you will probably here which Baffle is loose, a sharp whack will take the rattle out, but really is just a temp fix eventually it will need replacement, 4/7/2021 · what most people think is a rattle is in fact the injectors doing there thing. some extractors can also produce a type of noise that sounds like ticking,,its not unusual and in most cases is not harmful.
